Robosapien ...

I'll explain here a technic discovered not that far ago, and related to a flaw in the google algorithm :

Let's take an exemple :
http://amos.shop.com/amos/cc/ccsyn/518/main/catalog/prd/16563012/pcd/10735698

This is about "Robosapien".

Let's say now that I create a mirror page of this page, and stuff it in with a few good inbound links, so that its PR=3 (initial PR page is 2 ...). The PR of my mirror page is higher than the one from shop.com.

Here we go - if I now add a 302 redirects to the page on shop.com, google will think that since the PR is higher on the page I have built, this is the page to point: I have "hijacked" the shop.com page, and my page shows up in the SERP instead of the shop.com one.

I hear what you say - and what?! you redirect to shop.com anyway.

Well, this is where cloaking come into play: if you only redirect the search engines to shop.com, but real users to an other page? Well, that's it, you have hijacked a page!!

I have done it with one of their page. I let you browse their list of products, and work out which one we have hijacked (it took less than 24 hours). I cannot even take the risk to say it, otherwise galide may be in trouble ...

Now, google is aware of this problem ... why don't they do anything about it? They are working on it, you can bet. But since it is linked to a "forbidden" technic, the official response is : we are aware of the problem, but this is not a problem as long as you behave. If you don't behave and do cloaking, we will punish you.

enough with google for now. They are not even the first engine we focus on! let's focus on yahoo next time :-).
