Was reading last advice from Eric Ward, and found a nice one: to find hub sites (where you can stick your link for free), check www.teoma.com out.

On the results page, you will find the link collection from experts and enthusiats. Very good resource for hub sites. I have been using that for our latest site, and it works pretty well. Have already recorded a few in our shared directories spreadsheet.
