Title: wieden + kennedy seeks fresh blood
We're launching a new division of Wieden + Kennedy London that aims to offer four people the opportunity of working at W+K London for 3 months. It's called WK side and it's a training scheme that's designed to teach bright, enthusiastic, curious people about the advertising business and an opportunity for us learn new ways of thinking about things. This should help us broaden and develop our offering beyond conventional advertising channels.
WKside should be a source of inspiration, with the chosen team of four people working on a diverse portfolio of briefs including live briefs, pitches, special agency projects and just about anything else we can think of.
In order to be considered for the scheme, all people have to do is impress us by sending an idea in an envelope, which could be written, digitally created, painted, filmed, sewn or anything else their minds can come up with. We will judge the entries and invite people into the agency for an interview. We will then select our first team of four people to start working for three months, starting on 5th September, 2005.
Why are we doing this? From the outside, the advertising industry looks like a closed shop. And the only way to get in is through a few narrow and accepted channels. We don't think it should be that way. We think there are plenty of people with the talent and enthusiasm to make it in advertising that lie outside of these channels. WKside is our way of opening up advertising. Because we feel that the best advertising agencies aren't just staffed with people who only know advertising. And deep down we think that these people on the outside could maybe teach us a thing or two.
All ideas should be sent in an envelope to Natalie Field at wieden + kennedy, 16 hanbury street, London E1 6QR, natalie.field@wk.com, by 12th August, 2005. For more information see www.wklondon.com.
