Well, no, and happy to see that more and more SEOs come to realise that SEO is just an ingredient for online marketing, something that you can hardly define without including it with a general marketing plan.

French don't talk about optimisation any more - they prefer talking about visibility, presence, etc .. I wish french bloggers were better at posting in english - it would definitely bring some fresh air to the current SEO landscape (dominated buy Anglo-Saxon culture, which lacks notoriously of subtlety).

Once in a while I read posts listing 10s of patents, etc ... and throwing technical terms for the sake of it. Ok, it's always a goodidea to read that sort of things, culture wise, but then take it for what it is - don't use that to make yourself look serious and or to get some credibility on the SEO scene.

Online Marketing is Marketing, and if you want to start masterising at SEO, it is definitely a good idea to buy a book about Marketing Basics, instead of SEO for dummies.
