Google code repository
Google has recently launched Google code , providing with free repository for open source applications. And this was for us a good opportunity to release our CMS officially as open source.
Well, still loads of things to do before officially releasing it officially - or in other words, this is a beta version of the beta version - or a beta draft of the alpha version:
1) We have rolled back to an old version, stripping most of the modules out. The idea is to create a branch specific to open source - the code is clumsy, no comments, we had not moved yet to xml - we have put a lot of efforts since in improving this side of the code, but I think it would be interesting to see if developers can suggest other ways of improving the code. That's the reason why we have decided to roll back to an early stage version, taking the risk to get booed..
2) Create a blog or wiki?
3) Create download & documentation pages on our own server.
4) moving from VSS to subversion internally
Any way, we have done the first step - it was done in ~2h, but it took us 8 months since we first had the idea to release our CMS under open source licence - wel, it's done, let's see how it goes now!

that's all well and good... but what does 'galide' and 'jazar' actually mean?
I first built this blog with a friend (we both started our own venture at the time, and the idea was to interact on the blog, and describe how well we were doing..). his name is Laurent Galabert - and my name is Ide.
so, we called it Galide!
But Laurent could not be bothered to post really, so I took over, but kept the name.
Jazar is the name of my company. Just before setting it up, We had a 10 minutes brainstorming about how we should name it with Olivier, the second director of Jazar -
Since he keeps calling me carrot since the first day we met at university, he suggested "carrot". But it didn't sound very professional, and my girlfriend who was sitting next to us and who is arabic suggested Jazaar, which means "carrot" in arabic.
So we got rid of the double a, and that was it - we had the name
We just came back from Andalousie and I had a picture of a "1", which is written like a J in this region. So we had also the logo.
Each of us had a full glass of wine when we started the brainstorming session, and it was not even finished when we closed it. So we spent the rest evening drinking the rest of the bottle (and a couple of others)!
